SHEFFIELD’S favourite sauce manufacturer has experienced a gold rush in demand for its tribute to homegrown hero Jess Ennis.
Special limited edition bottles of Henderson’s Relish - created to mark the heptathlete’s Olympic success - have been flying off the shelves in their thousands.
Bottles of the black stuff have had their traditional orange label replaced with a gold one and the words ‘Congratulations Jess - Strong and Northern’.
Demand has been so high since the souvenir bottles were launched last month the firm is completely out.
The company is waiting on a new batch of labels and has assured stockists and customers that bottles will be back in production early next week.
Henderson’s spokeswoman Liz Castleton said: “We expected to sell a few so we did a small run but it has gone absolutely crazy.
“We’ve got none left in stock. I don’t have an exact figure on how many we’ve sold, but it is in the thousands.”
Liz added: “We want to thank everybody who has bought them so far - they will be back on the shelves later next week.”
