January is the most depressing month of the year for Sheffield people, according to a new survey.
A OnePoll survey says the first 31 days of the year are the worst due to the dark days, long nights and length of time until pay day.
The survey says holidays are an important way of lifting the gloom and city residents are happy to make sacrifices to secure them.
Almost four-fifths of peopl e surveyed in Sheffield would give up eating out to help book a break away.
Airline bmibaby, the survey organiser, said: “The festive season is a real high and the thought of going back to work fills many people with gloom.”
