JAIL hangs over the son of a Sheffield scrap metal worker who stole items to weigh in.
Ainsley Perkins, aged 21, of Outram Road, Wybourn, Sheffield, stole three large tractor batteries from an outbuilding at the rear of a house in Calver.
He was caught when two batteries were found in his uninsured Ford Transit van, which was seized by police.
Perkins admitted the burglary at Calver and asked for four further offences to be considered. He also admitted driving without insurance.
Becky Mahon, prosecuting at Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court, said: “He accepts he has gone into people’s gardens without permission to take items to weigh in.”
Perkins will be sentenced on October 5 at Derby Crown Court.
