It's a hole in one... at the double!

MOST amateur golfers are lucky to claim a solitary hole-in-one during their lifetime.

But 64-year-old South Yorkshire player Allen Smith can proudly boast of scoring TWO in three years.

Allen, a member of The Royal Oak Golf Society in Tickhill, Doncaster, first recorded an ace on his scorecard back in 2006 playing at Rotherham's Sitwell Park Golf Club where he hit his ball straight into the hole at the 173 yard par three 14th.

His latest hole in one came in the Northgate public house society's match at Worksop Golf Club. The all-round sports enthusiast and lifelong Rotherham United supporter this time used his driving iron at the 160 yard par three 18th. But of course there was a price to pay for such success with Allen, of Wilsic Road, Tickhill, and a former winner of the society's brown jacket as the most successful player of the season.

He maintained tradition by buying all his fellow members a round of liquid refreshment at the 19th.
