THREE councils in North Derbyshire have teamed up to share computer and IT services – saving each of the authorities thousands of pounds a year.
North East Derbyshire Council already operates its IT service with Derbyshire Dales Council, and now the partnership has been extended to include neighbouring Bolsover Council, saving the authorities a combined £110,000 over the next year.
Coun Pat Kerry, North East Derbyshire Council finance spokesperson, said: “We’re facing very difficult financial times and are under increasing pressure to deliver better services for less money.
“This new joint IT service is just one example of how we, and our neighbouring authorities, are always striving to find new, more efficient ways of working which saves money and allows us to focus our resources to protect frontline services.”
Coun Alan Hodkin, Bolsover Council cabinet member for resources, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to share expertise and knowledge and also save money.”
