VOLUNTEERS who did their bit to spruce up one of Sheffield’s most popular parks had their hard work rewarded with free drinks at the local pub.

The Friends of Millhouses Park gave up hours of their time to weed, dig and tidy up shrubbery in a bid to prepare it for the busy school holiday period.

Nearby pub The Waggon and Horses welcomed the green fingered group inside and replenished their energy with free drinks.

Lesley Casson, manager of The Waggon and Horses, said: “Friends of Millhouses Park do some fantastic work so when we heard they were cleaning up the park we wanted to support them and say ‘well done’ with some free drinks.

“We are keen to develop a strong relationship with them because their efforts help keep the park beautiful and encourage people to visit the area.”
