HERE’S Michael Vaughan as you’ve never seen him before... suited, booted and ready to rumba in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Vaughan, aged 37, who only last week was in Sheffield for a celebrity cricket match at Abbeydale Sports Ground, is swapping his whites for sequins and the crease for the ballroom as one of the contestants confirmed as part of the line-up this year.
Hopes are high the former England captain – raised in Sheffield, and who lives in Baslow, could do well in the show.
He follows in the twinkle-toed footsteps of fellow former cricketers Darren Gough, from Barnsley, and Mark Ramprakash, who have both previously won the contest.
Other hopefuls include Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, model Jerry Hall, TV presenters Fern Britton and Richard Arnold, EastEnders actor Sid Owen – Ricky Butcher – and Olympians Victoria Pendleton and Louis Smith.
The launch show will be broadcast on BBC1 this Saturday, when the celebrities’ dance partners will be announced.
