YOUNG, talented and taking the hairstyling world by storm.
Creative stylist Danielle Cheston from Sheffield’s Hunky Dory salon has scooped a top award in a national competition.
Danielle was announced winner of the Société Française de Biosthétique’s Young Total Beauty Award after a lively event held at a Hilton Hotel in Birmingham.
To reach the final, Danielle, aged 23, from Woodseats, styled the hair of 16-year-old Masie Saywell whose mum and dad own the Hunky Dory salon on Chesterfield Road, then submitted a photograph.
The judges were so impressed they made Danielle one of five finalists invited to recreate the same style on the same model in a live final against five other stylists from around the country.
After a cocktail reception and dinner, the five finalists took to the stage to recreate their look in a tense 30 minutes.
Industry expert judges included top hairdresser, educator and hair extension expert Michelle Griffin, hair trade specialist journalist Maria Weijers and salon industry PR guru Jacki Wadeson.
Danielle, who has worked at Hunky Dory since she was an apprentice at 16, said: “It was an amazing experience. It wasn’t just about the winning but some of the things the judges said about my work made me feel so very proud.”
Judge Michelle Griffin said: “We were unanimous in our choice of winner. Danielle’s model was an outstanding creation, a look which demanded many different hairdressing skills which she displayed very capably.
“The total look of her model was flawless, Danielle has a very good eye for style.”
Danielle’s prize included a glass trophy and a bottle of Champagne.
