TAKEAWAY owner Phil Waldron has completed a 100-mile coastal challenge to raise £700 for Sheffield’s Marie Curie cancer nursing service.
The 64-year-old owner of The Proud Potato, Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, completed the walk around the Isle of Man in seven days, managing 15 to 25 miles a day.
Mr Waldon received donations from his local Freemasons Lodge, t’ai chi class, friends, family and work colleagues.
He said: “I didn’t know if I could achieve this challenge. In my head there was no way I was going to give up, but it was very tiring.
“You never know what you can achieve until you try and a streak of Yorkshire stubbornness comes in very handy.”
