I SOMETIMES drive the Snake Pass on a Sunday morning, around 9am, when there are often what seems to be cycling clubs on a ride.
As an IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) member of 20 years, I always overtake leaving enough room for them to fall over sideways.
Older cyclists ride mostly with courtesy for other road users, but some of those of student age go out of their way to annoy car drivers.
Imagine the frustration of driving at five miles per hour behind three cyclists, not only riding abreast, taking up the whole lane, but turning their heads to look at the 100 yards of traffic crawling behind them and laughing their heads off. I suspect that this is the sort of behaviour which aroused Mr Meagher’s ire, as it does mine.
