Investigation launched following allegations of exam cheating at The Sheffield College

An external investigated allegations but found no proof of cheating by students.

The college has now launched an internal investigation into administrative procedures and exam invigilation.

Darren Tidmarsh, executive director of human resources, The Sheffield College, said: “The college takes these allegations extremely seriously, and commissioned a robust and independent external investigation in response to these claims.

“The external investigation, completed in January this year, found no proof of exam cheating by students.

“The external investigation did raise some concerns about administrative procedures and exam invigilation isolated to the motor vehicle department at Olive Grove campus. These cover some exams during the academic year 2015/16 set by two awarding bodies, City and Guilds and the Institute of the Motor Industry.“The College has launched an internal investigation following the completion of the external report.

"It is also working in partnership with City and Guilds and the Institute of the Motor Industry on their investigations. We have liaised closely with both awarding bodies throughout this process, and are unable to provide any further information at this time because of the ongoing investigations.”
