One person is said to have died after a car drove into a crowd in New York's Times Square.
The speeding car has hit pedestrians in the last hour with reports suggesting at least 19 people have been injured.
The driver was later taken into custody, according to the New York Police Department.
Police chiefs have said the incident is not being treated as terrorism and the driver 'lost control' which appeared to be an 'accident'.
The 26-year-old driver was tested for alcohol, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press news agency.
Eye-witnesses on social media say the car jumped the kerb at 7th Avenue and 45th St near the city's popular tourist spot.
