HALF of all holidaymakers risk losing the chance to claim by not buying travel cover until it’s too late.
By leaving it until the last minute, people are putting themselves at huge financial risk, according to Essential Travel.
Half buy insurance a week prior to departure and 20 per cent leave it until the day.
But 56 per cent book holidays at least three months before departure.
Uninsured holidaymakers stand to lose the full value of their trip if an unexpected incident prevents travel.
Upsets could include airline strikes, illness, redundancy, ash clouds or a travel company going bust.
