An inspirational student who has helped to improve the lives of people around the world has scooped a prestigious prize.

The 23-year-old will be awarded the Chancellor’s Medal for her voluntary work at a ceremony next week.

Jahaan said she was ‘astounded’ to receive the award.

Previous winners include Sheffield’s Olympic golden girl and psychology graduate Jessica Ennis-Hill.
