An inquest has been opened into the deaths of two Doncaster men who died in an M18 horror crash, involving a car and a lorry.

Senior Coroner, Nicola Mundy, opened an inquest into the deaths of 20-year-old Denis Radin and Mateusz Szweda, aged 19, this morning.

The two men died following a smash on the M18 on April 20 at around 10.20pm.

Agency driver, Denis Radin and Mateuz Szweda, a factory worker, were travelling with a 20-year-old woman in a white Audi in lane two of the northbound carriageway, near junction 3 at Potteric Car.

Police believe their car was stationary when there was a collision with a white articulated lorry.

The men were taken to hospital but later died.

The woman was also taken to hospital following the crash, and the extent of her injuries is not known.

Ms Mundy adjourned the inquest until this Autumn.

The lorry driver, a 46-year-old man, was arrested and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: “Both men sustained fatal injuries and the woman remains in hospital with serious injuries.

“Anyone who may have witnesses the collision is asked to call South Yorkshire police on 101”
