Inquest opened into death of ex barrister found at family farm

An inquest has opened into the death of a South Yorkshire barrister-turned-farmer who was found with gunshot wounds at his family farm.

Ben Hinchliff, aged 46, was found dead with gunshot wounds at his farm in Barnsley on Friday, October 18.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at Nether Mill Farm, Penistone.

It has been reported that Ben died just three weeks after marrying his wife Emily.

Police are continuing to make inquires on behalf of the coroner.

Mr Hinchliff joined One Brick Court Chambers in London in 1993.

An inquest was opened and adjourned in Sheffield last Tuesday.

A service of thanksgiving will be held at St John’s Church, Penistone, tomorrow.
