A MOBILITY scooter rider dragged under a lorry as he tried to cross a city road is recovering from his injuries and has been moved out of intensive care and onto a normal ward.
The 92-year-old was left fighting for life after the collision on the A6135 Barnsley Road, at 11.50am last Thursday.
He was riding along the pavement next to a HGV, driven by a 22-year-old Barnsley man, when he rode in front of the lorry as he attempted to cross the road using the pelican crossing outside Firs Hill Community Primary School.
The OAP’s scooter ended up getting pushed along the carriageway, before it was dragged under the lorry.
Witnesses to the incident or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident 366 of March 8.
