A refurbished community building has been reopened by Sheffield MP David Blunkett in time for Christmas.
The former Home Secretary, MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, joined partner organisations and Foxhill Forum trustees and staff at the reopening of the former Wolfe Road Healthy Living Centre in Birley Edge, Sheffield.
Now known as the In-volve Community Hub, the building has benefited from a Big Lottery Fund grant of £338,870 awarded to the Foxhill Forum, which owns and manages the premises.
Improvements made include a new lift and reception area, refurbished activity hall, plus new furniture, fittings and equipment.
A Healthy Eating Café has also been introduced, which will soon be serving meals and snacks, as well as providing people with training around preparing and cooking healthy meals.
During the opening event, visitors were invited to view the improved facilities and partake in activities.
Mark Wilde, forum chief executive, said: “The building looks and feels completely different to what it did 12 months ago and is more accessible for people.
“We look forward to delivering a new and exciting programme of activities starting in 2015.”
