A MAN caught illegally transporting waste without a permit has been fined at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
Officers from Sheffield Council, working with South Yorkshire Police, saw Daniel Peet, aged 25, of Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, carrying THE waste near EMR, on Penistone Road, in December.
Peet was stopped and admitted carrying waste for profit.
He admitted he had not got a permit and officers explained he had committed an offence, but that if he made an application they would take it into account when deciding whether to prosecute.
But Peet failed to apply. He also failed to pay a smaller, fixed penalty fine.
In court, magistrates fined Peet £350, awarded the council £75 in costs, and imposed a victim surcharge of £15 – a total of £440.
