ONE of Sheffield’s best loved statues is on the move - but not too far.
This month Meadowhall’s iconic bronze statue of a group of steel workers - where over the years hundreds of lost children have been reunited with their mums - will be moved to one of the centre’s busiest locations, outside Next.
A spokesman for the mall said: “This is in line with the ongoing construction work and changes within the centre.
“As one of the highest footfall areas in Meadowhall, this will ensure the statues remain a focal point.”
The statue which was created by Robin Bell depicts a steel teemer at work.
It was unveiled by a real- life teemer George Dalton in September 1990 and stood at the bottom of the escalators leading from Boots to the ground floor.
