I'm one of yor! says Sheffield star Sean Bean - VIDEO

HOLLYWOOD heartthrob Sean Bean returned home to unveil his legend star plaque outside Sheffield Town Hall and told cheering fans: "Yeah. I'm one of yor!"

Sean, aged 50, in his famed Yorkshire accent and best Sheffield dialect, shouted back the reply when a loving fan interrupted his acceptance speech by yelling: "You're one of us."

The Sharpe and Lord Of The Rings superstar then thanked Sheffield people for nominating him for the honour.

And, before dashing off to watch his beloved Blades beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at Bramall Lane, he signed autographs, posed for photos and gave the occasional peck on the cheek to the many fans who turned out in the cold and rain to watch the ceremony.

He told the crowd: "Thank you everybody for coming along today. It's a real privilege and honour.

"Sheffield is a very special place to me. It's where I was born and brought up. It holds a very special place in my heart."

In an exclusive interview with The Star he revealed how thrilled he was to be in the same company as Sheffield greats in the Walk Of Fame. They include Michael Palin, Gordon Banks, Joe Cocker, Lord Sebastian Coe, Michael Vaughan, Derek Dooley, Joe Scarborough and Def Leppard.

He said: "It's a real honour to think Sheffield people have chosen me to be part of this.

"I was aware of it four years ago. We've kept setting a date for me to come up, then I would get a job. I think we arranged it to give me enough time to get to Bramall Lane!

"I've got a little place up here now and I'm trying to get up more these days. But I'm flying around so much."

He is about to start filming a London action thriller called Clean Skin and will soon be seen as Greek God Zeus in a new Harry Potter-type adventure film, called Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

Fan Samantha Waters, 16, of Stocksbridge, who queued up in the cold for an hour, was left in tears of joy after she got a kiss on the cheek. She said: "He's amazing. I love him."

Ann Kelly, 56, of Darnall, got him to sign her shopping list. She said: "It was the only thing I had for him to sign. Sean was brilliant. It's freezing but he's taken the time to speak to everyone."

Lord Mayor Coun Graham Oxley said Walk Of Fame legends are all nominated by Sheffield people, but a German woman emailed only last week to say: "God must have been smiling when he made Sean. He makes it a better world and a better place to live in."

Sheffield Council leader Coun Paul Scriven said: "He is living proof that you can take the boy out of Sheffield but you can't take Sheffield out of the boy.

"No matter how many times Hollywood and London want to portray him as villain, we know he's a real good Sheffield lad. We're very proud of him."

Sean paid tribute to his former Handsworth Infant School headteacher Marian Meredith, who has died, aged 93. He said: "She was a wonderful woman – a great mentor to me and the rest of the pupils."
