SHEFFIELD athlete Jessica Ennis has revealed she’s a girlie lass at heart - and never competes without donning full make up.
The stunning heptathlete said she never leaves the house without eyeliner and mascara - and loves glamming up for big red carpet events.
Jess was talking behind the scenes on a shoot for beauty brand Olay’s new Essentials range, which was filmed in Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium.
The advert - which can be seen at www.thestar.co.uk - first aired on Sunday night.
Jess, 26, said: “It makes me feel more confident.
“I always ensure my skin is clean and moisturised and never leave the house without mascara and eyeliner on.
“It’s important for me to look good before a race.
“I definitely think if I feel I look good, it makes me feel more confident.”
The former pupil of King Ecgbert School in Dore, who got engaged to her partner Andy Hill at Christmas 2010, also revealed she loves getting ready for a big night out.
She said: “I love getting dressed up for red carpet events and having my hair and make-up done professionally - that definitely helps with nerves of going down the red carpet.
“I like to have plenty of time to get ready for a night out so there is no rushing – I like to plan what I am wearing and then work out my make-up and hair, but in the morning I take just half an hour.”
Jess, who is currently training for this summer’s Olympic heptathlon in London, said her beauty inspiration was US actress Jennifer Aniston.
She said: “She is a beauty icon of mine - I think she is so gorgeous and natural - she just glows all the time.”
Her punishing training regime is clearly hard work - Tweeting about one session earlier this week, the Sheffield lass said: “Why, why, why? these sessions kill me!!”
And she revealed that to unwind after her hard training she has a long hot bath and likes to veg out on the sofa with a DVD box set.
She said: “I’m a box-set junkie! I absolutely love Grey’s Anatomy.”
Speaking about the Olay advert, Jess said: “It’s an honour to be working with Olay.
“To be able to use all the products and be part of the team, it’s great.”
The modest athlete later Tweeted about the range: “I definitely use it. But I definitely need it.”
