Hustings, debates and election events in Sheffield this week

Voters in Sheffield still have time to quiz candidates fighting for their support debate in a number of events as the election countdown nears its end.

A hustings will be held tonight at Wesley Hall, Crookes, for candidates standing in Sheffield Hallam from 7.30pm. Five candidates have been invited.

It has been jointly organised by Crookes Forum and Sheffield for Democracy.

Sheffield Pride is also hosting the city’s first Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Question Times tonight at The University of Sheffield’s students union, from 7pm.

Parliamentary candidates from across South Yorkshire and five parties have been invited to attend.

The event is open to all.

Adam Hood, from Sheffield Pride, said: “Our aim is to make the LGBT voice heard in the election.”

Theatre Delicatessen on The Moor is also hosting The Sheffield Alternative Election, where residents can submit the policies they want the Government to adopt, from Friday May 1 until May 6.

The results of the project will be launched at an election party on May 7, from 8pm. It will include speakers, music , live voting experiments and games.
