Hunt for conman claiming to be Peter Kay's brother - PICTURE

A MAN being hunted by police for claiming to be the brother of comedian Peter Kay and conning pub landlords out of cash has been sighted in Chesterfield.

Officers looking for Peter Stead, aged 47, have had a number of calls about him being in Chesterfield since his scam was highlighted on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

The conman has tricked a number of landlords out of money by taking deposits from them for comedy nights he was allegedly organising.

He told his victims he was called Danny Kay and was staging cash to raise money to send a four-year-old cancer sufferer to America for treatment.

Police have also had sightings of him in Blackpool since the Crimewatch appeal.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire Police on 0345 1233333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
