A Sheffield neighbourhood group has completed restoration work on a 17th century roadside water pump which has been hidden from view for many years by brambles and weeds.
The project to repair the pump on Carter Knowle Road has been carried out by the Carter Knowle and Millhouses Neighbourhood Group.
Spokeswoman Pam Denniff said members were now planting flowers around the pump to make it a community feature.
“It is a little bit of history, and now we are looking for a small square stone trough to go with it, to replace the one that has gone missing,” she said.
“The trough was used by ponies who needed a drink while on their way to the moors and salt mines at Ringinglow.”
