DONCASTER College has waved goodbye to 12 Hungarian students who came on a one-month exchange programme.
The students from Kossuth Zsuzanna Vocational School in Dabas, 40km from Budapest, have returned home after a one-month visit to sharpen their skills.
The four bricklayers, two electricians and six hairdressers spent the month working in their respective vocational areas to gain experience in an international setting.
A reciprocal exchange will take place later this year, when four hairdressing students from Doncaster College will travel to Kossuth Zsuzanna to undertake a two-week work placement at its on-site hair salon. The college hopes to send bricklayers and electricians to Hungary as well next academic year, funding permitting.
A spokesman said: “Exchanges provide immense value to staff and students from both institutions. In addition to gaining international work experience highly valued by employers, there is the added dimension of broadening cultural horizons, stepping outside a comfort zone and discovering connections with people all over the world.”
