HUNDREDS of mourners gathered at a Doncaster town church to pay their last respects to a teenager who was stabbed to death.

The streets were packed as friends and loved ones filed into St Nicholas’s Church, Thorne, for the funeral service of Joseph Smith.

The 18-year-old died from a single wound to the chest, after being injured on the corner of Barnsley Road and Locarno Road, in Moorends, on Wednesday, March 23.

He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary, where he was certified dead.

Joseph was a father of a young daughter, and his girlfriend, Hayley, was expecting their second child when he died.

After his death last month, floral tributes were left on the pavement where he suffered the wounds which killed him.

A 15-year-old boy from Moorends was arrested and charged with murder following Joseph’s death.
