Around 15 coach loads of activists, trade unionists and their families, and Labour Party members from South Yorkshire are set to take part in a mass demonstration outside the Tory Party Conference in Manchester.

A total of five coaches are set to be sent to the anti-austerity protest, which is due to start at 12.30pm, from Barnsley.

Brian Steele, Barnsley Trades Council secretary, said, “The Trades Council has now put on a second coach because demand has been greater than we expected. This is in addition to coaches being run by UNISON, UNITE The Union and the Bakers’ Union. People are sick of austerity without end and want to express their anger.”

Some seven coach loads of people from Sheffield, and three loads from Doncaster are also expected to also travel to Manchester Oxford Road for the protest against the Conservative Party’s annual conference.
