Hundreds of birds perish in aviary blaze in Doncaster

Around 300 birds perished when a fire ripped through an aviary in Doncaster.

The blaze on Holmes Carr Road, New Rossington, broke out at 10.30am on Friday.

Firefighters called to the incident said flames from a fire in a brazier spread to the aviary and a nearby caravan.

Crews spent three hours at the scene.

The incident has been logged as accidental on fire service records.
