As the first of two four-day weekends gets underway, we’re all excitedly making our plans for the big day, less than a week away.

Whether our plans involve a street party, a house party, or a cup of tea in front of the TV, we’ve all gone Kate and Wills crazy.

“We’ve got Royal Wedding merchandise flying off the shelves,” said Dawn Newbolt, for John Lewis in Sheffield, one of many Sheffield shops which have gone merchandise-mad for the occasion.

There are plates, keyrings, cups, mugs, pictures, make-up bags - anything that can bear a picture of the Union Jack, or of the happy couple.

“We’ve even been giving Bunting Workshops,” added Dawn.

“People are talking excitedly about decorating their houses up with bunting, completely appropriate for such a traditional, British event.

“It couldn’t be easier to make.”
