'How can you sleep at night? Hand yourselves in' - Heartbroken family of South Yorkshire hit-and-run victim Sue Gravel speak out

The grandmother-of-seven, who was making her way to Asda on Station Road in Stainforth, Doncaster, was hit by a grey or silver BMW 5 Series car on Saturday, March 11.

She was airlifted to Northern General Hospital but died a short time later.

Speaking to the media at a police press conference Sue's sister Val, her son Philip and daughter Claire urged those responsible to end their misery and give themselves up.

Sue's sister Val described the impact the death has had on the family

"It's bad, very bad. Whoever has done this please come forward. We can't fetch her back but we need to have justice done.

"Whoever is hiding them please give them up, you wouldn't want it done to your family like their mother, sister of grandmother. We wouldn't want it done to them.

"I don't know how you can sleep if you can sleep at all. I know I couldn't if I had done such a thing.

"We need the missing piece of the puzzle so we can lay Susan to rest and find some answers."

Sue, had not long left her home on Ivy Rose Court caravan park when she was tragically hit by the callous driver who failed to stop.

Val said Sue was supposed to be at work at Sandall Park cafe but was off because she wasn't feeling well.

"She was a loving person, everybody loved her even if she got on our nerves sometimes. She was the only sister I had," Val added.

"We're a loving and caring family. She worked hard, she was very hardworking.

"She loved her grandkids. Her grandkids came before anybody actually. Sophie, Jack, Lewis, Marley, Gareth, Bobbie, Jayden. She loved them so much.

"Seven grandkids and now they haven't got their Nana."

Dozens of bouquets of flowers have been left at the scene on Station Road and Val Sue was well-known and well-liked in the Stainforth area who had lived in the village most of her life.

Son Philip said: "Somebody knows who has done this - the smallest bit of evidence could be vital. If this was your family, how would you feel? You would want us to do that.

"It's a big loss, she had four brothers, nieces, nephews - big family on both sides."
