Kind-hearted hotel staff have raised £25,000 for a new wing at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Holiday Inn Royal Victoria staff trekked, ran marathons, completed skydives, swam and packed bags to reach their fundraising total – enough to sponsor a private room in the new wing, which is currently being built.

The donation was made to The Children’s Hospital Charity as part of their Make it Better appeal.

The appeal, launched in 2012, is to pay for the creation of a brand new wing complete with three wards with mostly private bedrooms, a spacious outpatients department and landscaped outdoor areas.

Helen Beck, group sales director at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria, said: “We reached the target in time for Christmas which is a brilliant boost for our staff.

“The team and I are all very committed to supporting Sheffield Children´s Hospital and what they are trying to achieve.

“Many of us have used the facilities and undertaking these developments will make such a huge difference to the lives of parents and children who use the facilities in the future. We wanted to be part of the exciting changes taking place at the hospital and to give something back to benefit the local community.”
