Double yellow lines are to be extended on streets around Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital to reduce problems caused by bad parking.
Sheffield Council’s cabinet highways committee has rubber-stamped plans to extend double yellow lines on Crabtree Road, Fairbank Road, Herries Road, and around junctions with side streets on Barnsley Road.
Single yellow lines banning parking during the daytime will be introduced on Norwood Road and part of Crabtree Road.
Letters about the changes were sent to 300 residents, 12 of whom objected due to concerns about reduction in parking near their homes.
However, the council said the objections were outweighed by safety concerns about parking on narrow streets, around junctions and at unsuitable points on Herries Road.
The hospital has long-term plans to build a multi-storey car park to resolve the long-standing problem with a lack of spaces but the scheme is on hold due to lack of funding.
