A fundraising appeal to transform Sheffield Children’s Hospital to give ‘world-class’ care for young patients has been given a boost – thanks to a shopping centre
Parkgate Shopping, Rotherham, will welcome the hospital charity’s mascot Theo for the first time on Valentine’s Day – Friday, February 14 – when volunteers will also be encouraging shoppers to show their love for the hospital.
Toy bears will be on sale for £5 to help raise funds.
Further events are planned for the charity’s Make it Better Day in June as well as later in the year.
The partnership is aiming to raise £5,000 towards the Make it Better appeal to transform the hospital with new facilities. The plans include creating single occupancy rooms, sensory equipment and outdoor spaces for young patients to use.
Billy Smith, Parkgate operations manager, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Children’s Hospital Charity, which has made a difference to so many people’s lives in Rotherham over the years, including more than 3,000 Rotherham patients last year alone.
“I’m sure lots of our shoppers will want to support and participate in this exciting series of events, which will make an important contribution towards transforming the hospital into a world-class facility to match the world-class care it provides.”
