A HOSPICE is asking for members of the public to get involved in a new fundraising drive during the summer.
Rotherham Hospice has launched its Go Yellow campaign, which asks schools, businesses and organisations in the community to organise yellow-themed events to raise vital funds for the charity.
Staff from the hospice are also getting involved by taking part in a week of activities, including sitting in a bath of custard outside the hospice, from Monday to Friday, June 11 to 15.
Patients have made hand-crafted yellow flowers which will be on sale at the hospice’s reception throughout the week, along with cupcakes carrying the colour.
It is hoped members of the community will be inspired to organise their own events.
Anne Giblin, a fundraiser for the hospice, said “We want as many people as possible to take part in this campaign.
“It is a simple idea which means people of any age can get involved. Our hospice day patients are excited about getting involved with the campaign – they feel it gives them a chance to give something back to the hospice.”
Yellow was selected as the colour of choice for the campaign due to its connection with the sunflower, a well-known symbol of the hospice movement.
