Hospice in Sheffield appeals for tradesmen to give up some spare time

St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield is looking for plasterers, painters, decorators, electricians, plumbers, joiners, gardeners and anybody else with skills to volunteer some of their time.

The hospice’s Volunteer Development Manager, Tracy , said: “We have an extremely busy maintenance team whose services are needed around the clock at the hospice.

“It can be a big drain on time and resources, for instance, when they are called off site to work on problems at our chain of 11 shops, which are dotted around the city, in locations as far afield as Stocksbridge, Chapeltown and Crystal Peaks.

“There are also occasions when we might have a task at the hospice which needs specialist attention and which means we have to engage external contractors for quite modest jobs.

“That’s why we are aiming to develop a team of volunteer trades people who could, at short notice, spare just a little of their time to take on specific maintenance tasks as they arise.”

For more information on how to get involved should contact Tracy on 0114 2357543 or Joy Wright on 0114 2357542.
