A HORSE had to be rescued by Firefighters after it became stuck up to its neck in slurry.

The horse had escaped from its field in Wentworth, Rotherham.

Fire crews from Tankersley station and a Technical Rescue Unit attended the incident which happened on Wednesday, February 20, at 12 noon.

Firefighters used a horse sling and with the help of a tractor, managed to pull the horse out. The horse was checked over by a vet at the scene and was given the all clear.

Crews left the scene at 3:30pm.
