SAY hello to John.
He may have a plain name – but this lad is packed full of personality and fun.
John, who is being cared for at the RSPCA centre in Attercliffe, just wants to have lots of frolics with a new family and to leave the bad times behind.
RSPCA Sheffield Branch animal care manager Tony Benham says: “Perky-eared John is a great dog who has had a rough time that hasn’t impacted badly on his bubbly personality but has literally left him with scars.
“He’s an intelligent black lurcher cross who is about six years old.
“John was in relatively good condition when he came to us at the centre, but his physical scars strongly suggest he had a very unhappy past experience, possibly connected to badger baiting.
“This lovely chap really deserves some peace, happiness and love this second time around.”
John has no known health issues, is very affectionate and loves attention.
“He also loves his walks and will make a great walking companion for someone who wants to get out and about and enjoy these longer days and lighter nights.
“He’s great with people, especially those he has got to know, and he is generally very friendly.”
If his new family were to have children, he would be best suited to teenagers as he can be boisterous and bouncy.
He said: “When it comes to walking, John will need an average of about two lots of 30-minute walks a day, plus some playtime. He would really like a new home with people who understand he has had a rough time. In return, he is a very affectionate dog with lots of love to give.”
