A PROJECT to uncover the history of playing fields in Sheffield has been given a cash windfall.
Longley’s Four Greens project is one of 57 schemes in Yorkshire and Humber to be awarded a Heritage Lottery grant as part of its All Our Stories programme.
Today Four Greens is a haunt for local children, but they will soon know the story behind the play area, donated by philanthropist J G Graves.
The project will work in partnership with the local school and sixth form college and aims to combat anti-social behaviour by instilling pride and respect for the local heritage.
The children will create a photographic timeline to decorate the local community centre, and will interview local residents for a website.
