Hillsborough memorial service marks 26th anniversary of tragedy

Annual memorial service to remember those who died in the Hillsborough disaster takes place tomorrow - on the 26th anniversary of the tragedy.

Members of the public are invited to go along to the Hillsborough memorial on Parkside Road, Sheffield, at 2.55pm where SWFC chairman Dejphon Chansiri will lay a wreath in memory of the 96 Liverpool fans who died.

A minute’s silence will be observed and Donna Miller, sister of victim Paul Carlile will read out the names of the 96 who lost their lives.

Some of the families will be attending.

In Liverpool flags on civic buildings will be flown at half-mast and bells across the city, including at the Town Hall and Municipal Building, will be rung 96 times.

Images of those who lost their lives will be projected at Lime Street station.

There will be a minute’s silence at 3.06pm - the time the fateful game was stopped.
