Police officers and staff who have been put forward for awards met the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, Lady Ruby Sykes.

Lady Sykes visited force headquarters at Carbrook and had a tour of the air support unit.

The nominees include Sgt Brendan Packenham who works on terrorism and extremist activity in Sheffield; PC Amanda Dickens, who leads a team of PCSOs in Rotherham; project officer Emma Kenny-Levick, who runs the force’s Crucial Crew education programme; PCSO Claire Banks, who patrols Barnsley’s Carlton Industrial Estate and sites around Monk Bretton, PCSO Chris Dillon who works on car crime in Doncaster - and 91-year-old civilian Vera Miles, who has worked as an independent custody visitor for over 20 years.
