Volunteers at Victim Support in Rotherham enjoyed a VIP visit from the High Sheriff.

Lady Ruby Sykes visited the charity’s offices to speak to staff and unpaid helpers about their work supporting victims of crime.

Lady Sykes said she herself had been the victim of a burglary.

Yvonne Cherry, service delivery manager, said they had 44 volunteers.

She added: “They are absolutely vital to the running of the service and we couldn’t manage without them.”
