He managed to find his way to Champs Sports Bar & Grill where quick-thinking staff attended to the stab wound in his stomach.

Assistant manager Joe Robinson, 23, said the stab victim stumbled through the back of the pub.

Joe and bar team member Nathan Young, cleared the area near the kitchen to attend to the injured man.

Joe said: “This lad came in through the back shouting for help. He looked like he had a stab wound to his stomach.

“We got a cloth from the back and pressed on his wound.

“We tried to calm him down the best he could and tried to take care of him while the ambulance arrived.

“We asked all the customers to move round to one side of the pub while we looked after him until the ambulance got here.

“I think the incident happened around 200 yards from the pub. All the Sunday football had finished so it wasn’t overly busy at the time.

“I’m over the moon with them and the way they tried to keep this lad calm until the ambulance got there.

“I’ve had this place about four years and it’s the best set of staff I’ve worked with.”
