PEOPLE in Eckington are to be asked how the site of a former sheltered housing scheme should be used.
Woodview House in Eckington is due to be demolished this month after the North East Derbyshire Council-owned facility was closed last year because it no longer met modern housing standards.
The council agreed to demolish the building on West Street, as the cost of refurbishment was prohibitively high.
Coun Betty Hill said: “Woodview House had become very difficult to let in recent years and the cost of bringing the facilities up to modern standards did not represent best value for money.
“Over the coming months we will be consulting with local people to consider the future uses of the site for the community, as part of wider plans to improve the town.”
