Helicopter used to find boy, six

A POLICE helicopter search was mounted when a six-year-old boy was reported missing from home in Herringthorpe, Rotherham.

Officers looked for the boy on the ground while the helicopter scanned the area from above. The youngster was found safe and well nearby and had wandered off while playing on his bike.

Youth attacked

AN investigation is under way into an attack on a teenage boy after he got off a bus on Twentywell Lane, Bradway, Sheffield. The 16-year-old was threatened and assaulted in the incident, which police are treating as an attempted robbery. Nothing was stolen during the attack.

Out of control

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a garden bonfire when it began burning out of control. They spent around 50 minutes extinguishing the flames and damping down at the garden on Knutton Road, Parson Cross, Sheffield.

Pond searched

EMERGENCY services were called to a pond in Sheffield after concerns were raised that a man may have fallen in. Firefighters waded into the pond to search the water but there was nobody in any difficulty.
