Helicopter seat given a whirl by pupils - PICTURES
HELICOPTER ahoy!
Pupils at a Sheffield primary enjoyed an exciting afternoon when the South Yorkshire Police chopper touched down on their school playing field.
Officers visited Birley Community Primary to deliver prizes to eight pupils who had won a competition organised by the force.
Their mission was to design a superhero capable of keeping the community safe - helping the police in their work.
Almost 600 youngsters welcomed the helicopter, and the competition winners were given a chance to sit in the pilot's seat.
They were also shown around the chopper with the crew explaining everything it can do.
The crew stayed at school for over an hour talking to the children and answering their questions.
"It was a fantastic, exciting and memorable event and we'd like to thank officers Roger Shalome and Adrian Pogmore for organising it all," said the school manager Hilary Dennis.
