AN OPEN day is being held by a Sheffield community group for older people with mental health problems.
Care workers Kirsty Richardson and Grace Anderson have set up The Acorn Club, based at St Bartholomew’s Church at Primrose Hill, Langsett, for people over the age of 55 with a mild tomoderate mental health diagnosis.
The open day takes place on Wednesday, June 8, between 11am and 3pm, with entertainment and refreshments.
Kirsty said: “Our aim is to provide an environment that supports people’s recovery process by providing regular advice and support at the club, with talks from relevant local services and regular activities and entertainment throughout each session.
“We also want to encourage our members to have an active involvement with the running of group as well as listening to the carers, as so often their voice is not heard.”
