COULD you help care for a hedgehog?
If so, South Yorkshire Animal Rescue would like to hear from you.
It needs volunteers to release, foster and, later in the year, care for young hedgehogs over winter.
The charity, based in South Road, Walkley, Sheffield, also needs help to find good homes for rescued cats.
Trish Mitchell, of SYAR, said: “We need people to help with gradual structured release back to the wild urgently as spring is on its way.
“We also need foster carers for disabled hogs and, later in the year, for people to help with over-wintering underweight hedgehogs that cannot survive hibernation.
“Injured hogs can come and be nursed back to health with assistance from our vets with us, so less animals die unnecessarily, and can eventually be released back to the wild.
“Also we have some young and middle-aged cats to rehome.”
