South Yorkshire will be hotter than Rio de Janeiro this week, forecasters predict.
Wednesday will be the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures topping 30C, rivalling places like Florida.
Thursday will be a notch cooler, with the risk of some thundery downpours, but temperatures look set to rise again on Friday and into Saturday.
The heatwave is being caused by a plume of hot and humid air moving north over the UK from France and Spain.
Although the hot spell will be welcomed by many, health experts have warned that the high temperatures could lead to problems for the young and elderly (see link below).
