Heartless crime as boy helps elderly lady

Have your say

A thoughtful schoolboy had his scooter stolen after he went to help an old lady in the street.

The 11-year-old was on his scooter in Woodlands Way, Denaby, when he spotted an elderly woman who appeared to be struggling up the road.

Deciding he should try and assist the lady he left his scooter leaning on a wall.

However, after offering his help, he returned only a few minutes later to discover that his vehicle was gone.

Police are now trying to trace the callous thieves.

An appeal for witnesses to the incident, which happened at noon on Sunday, April 27, has been made.

PC Steve Atkinson said: “This is a really heartless crime as the young boy was trying to help someone in need.”

He added: “I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything, or who may have any information to please come forward.”

The scooter is described as a Zinc Havock stunt scooter and is green and black.

Anyone with any information about the theft or who knows where the scooter is, is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on the non-emergency telephone number 101.
